Yamagishi wins Kodokan trophyCHIBA (Kyodo) Emi Yamagishi scored a "waza-ari" against Tomoko Fukumi on Saturday to win the women's 48-kilogram final, capturing her first title at the Kodokan Cup national weight-class championships. The 20-year-old Yamagishi took control of the match with about 1 minute remaining, deploying a hip throwing technique for the decisive point at the meet, which doubles as a preliminary qualifier for next September's world championships in Rio de Janeiro. Yamagishi won the national weight-class crown in April this year and was later selected as a member for the team at the judo World Cup in September before being passed over in the actual competition for 17-year-old rival Misato Nakamura.
